During the May Day holiday, China Central Television (CCTV) continuously monitored the tourism reception services of Hengshan Mountain and Hanging Temple. On May 1st, CCTV-13's "Morning News" reported on the significant increase in tourist volume at Hengshan Mountain in Datong, Shanxi Province during the May Day holiday, with an increase of nearly 60%. On May 2nd, CCTV-4's "China News" and CCTV-13's "News 30 Minutes" respectively reported on the extended opening hours of the Hanging Temple to accommodate the increased number of tourists during the May Day holiday. In September 1918, Jiang Weiqiao, a councillor of the Ministry of Education of the Beiyang Government, was ordered by the Ministry of Education to inspect the academic affairs in Shanxi Province. He took the opportunity to pay his respects at Mount Wutai and Hengshan Mountain. He departed from Beijing on September 21, first taking a train to Shijiazhuang, and then to Taiyuan; then he took a carriage to Mount Wutai and Hengshan Mountain; and finally returned to Beijing from Datong by train on October 13.
