Let's start with a bowl of Liangfen in Hunyuan.
Many people's introduction to Hunyuan begins with a bowl of Liangfen. The Hunyuan Liangfen making technique is listed as a provincial intangible cultural heritage of Shanxi Province.
Hunyuan Liangfen is made from locally produced potato starch and pea flour, coming in two varieties: flour and bean flour. The production method is relatively simple. After boiling a pot of water, add an appropriate amount of starch water (add pea flour water), and stir with a six-pronged stick while adding water until it becomes a transparent powder. It can be spread on a water jar or placed in a bowl. After cooling, it forms a jelly-like substance that is cut into slices with a knife. Add vinegar, scallions, salt water, chili oil, dried tofu, lotus beans, and cilantro, and mix together. When picked up with chopsticks, it "trembles", and it's "cool and refreshing", thin and refreshing. People sitting around eating Liangfen is a beautiful sight in the small town.

Good mountains and good water brew good wine. For thousands of years, the majestic and magnificent Hengshan Mountain has created the grand and profound Hengshan Mountain liquor, and the clear and sweet Hengshui water has nurtured the light and mellow aroma of Hengshan Mountain liquor.
Hunyuan County, at the foot of Hengshan Mountain, has a long history of winemaking. In 1923, a batch of bronze wares were unearthed in Liyu Village, Hunyuan, including wine vessels such as Xi Zun. Based on this, it can be inferred that there was already a winemaking industry in the local area during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. Hengshan Mountain liquor is characterized by its mellow aroma, long taste, and rich flavor, and is deeply loved by people.

Hengshan Mountain tea has a long history. During the Hongzhi period of the Ming Dynasty, when the Northern Yue Temple was rebuilt, three pavilions were added, one of which was called "Tea". When literati and scholars visited Hengshan Mountain, monks and Taoists would offer Hengshan Mountain tea to their guests. Ming Dynasty poet Yang Shucheng's "Notes on Climbing Hengshan Mountain" records "offering tea as a courtesy". Ming Dynasty high official Wang Yunfeng's poem "Xuan Kong Temple" says:
There are thousand-foot cliffs above, And thousand-foot cliffs below.
Mountain monks hear guests arrive, Pick mountain tea down below.
