Hengshan Mountain, as one of the Five Great Mountains of China, is the Fifth ‘Little Grotto-Heaven’ of Taoism, enjoying a millennium of historical and cultural heritage and majestic, precipitous natural scenery, and moreover has Hanging Temple A unique cultural spectacle of the integration of the three teachings, it bears the profound historical heritage and humanistic spirit of China’s northern border and is an important cultural landmark of China’s beautiful rivers and mountains. To further distill the cultural core of Hengshan Mountain and create a concise, catchy, and memorable cultural-tourism slogan that fully highlights the unique charm of Hengshan Mountain, we hereby open a public solicitation for outstanding slogans to the whole society, sincerely inviting people from all walks of life to actively participate and jointly craft a new cultural-tourism calling card for Hengshan Mountain.

2. Solicitation period

From the date of this announcement until June 30, 2026 (based on the submission arrival time).

3. Scope of solicitation

All individuals, groups and organizations across society who care about and support the cultural and tourism development of Hengshan Mountain are welcome to submit entries.

4. Requirements for entries

1. Closely tied to the cultural core: deeply align with Hengshan Mountain’s Five Great Mountain status, its hanging wonder, grand landscapes, and millennia of cultural heritage, highlighting Hengshan Mountain’s " Northern Pillar of Heaven and Earth ", "a renowned frontier mountain" unique temperament, combining cultural depth and communicative value.

2. Concise and easy to spread: following the style of classic cultural-tourism slogans, language should be refined, short and powerful, around 10 characters (in Chinese) in length, without rare characters, catchy and meaningful, memorable and suitable for promotion across platforms. Examples: “History is far away, Shanxi is very near”; “So close, so beautiful — head to Hebei this weekend.”

3. Original, unique and compliant: entries must be original and unpublished, not plagiarized or copied from others, must not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights, and must comply with national laws, regulations and public morality.

4. Distinct and original theme: novel in conception with high recognition, accurately reflecting Hengshan Mountain’s exclusive cultural label, avoiding homogenization with other scenic slogans while resonating emotionally and possessing cultural-tourism appeal.

5. How to submit

1. Email submission: please send your entry, a creative description (within 100 words), author name, contact phone number and mailing address to the dedicated submission email: byhsjq@126.com. Please indicate in the email subject: “Hengshan Mountain Slogan Solicitation + Author Name.”

2. Offline submission: paper materials can be mailed to: Party and Administration Office, Hengguan Center, Hengshan South Road, Hunyuan County, Datong City, Shanxi Province. Envelope should be marked “Hengshan Slogan Solicitation.”

3. Submission notes: each person may submit no more than 3 entries; label multiple works separately. Submitted materials will not be returned, so please retain your original copies.

6. Selection and awards

(1) Selection process: This solicitation adheres to the principles of fairness, impartiality and openness. The organizer will form a judging panel composed of cultural-tourism experts, cultural scholars and industry representatives to conduct preliminary screening, re-examination and final review in three stages, select the winning entries and publish the results through official channels.

(2) Awards setting

1. First prize: 1 winner, cash prize RMB 3,000

2. Second prize: 2 winners, cash prize RMB 1,500 each

3. Third prize: 3 winners, cash prize RMB 500 each

4. Several Excellence Awards, Hengshan Scenic Area Cultural and creative gift pack

7. Other notes

1. All rights to the winning works — including copyright, right of use, right to modify and dissemination rights — shall belong to the Hengshan Scenic Area Management Center. Authors retain the right to be credited. The organizer has the right to optimize, use and promote the winning works and will not make additional payments.

2. Any legal disputes arising from plagiarism, infringement or similar issues related to submitted works shall be borne entirely by the submitter and are unrelated to the organizer.

3. By submitting an entry, the submitter is deemed to have fully understood and accepted all terms of this announcement. The organizer reserves the final right of interpretation for this event.
