On the morning of September 28th, coinciding with the 2573rd anniversary of the birth of Confucius, the great ancient Chinese thinker, educator, and founder of Confucianism, the activation ceremony and grand Confucian sacrifice ceremony of the Hunyuan Prefecture Confucian Temple were grandly held.

In recent years, the Hunyuan County Committee and County Government have meticulously promoted the restoration and repair project of the historical and cultural city. The ancient city's charm is evident, arousing the admiration of the world. Classic ancient buildings such as the Prefecture Office and the Confucian Temple have been successively opened to welcome visitors, becoming important windows for tourists to appreciate the culture of Mount Heng and Hunyuan.
The Hunyuan Prefecture Confucian Temple is large in scale, complete in form, and exquisite in architecture, covering an area of 15,500 square meters. It was initially built during the Liao Dynasty and has been repeatedly rebuilt and expanded throughout the dynasties, serving as a testament to Hunyuan's emphasis on education and culture and the continuation of local cultural heritage. In May 2013, the Hunyuan Prefecture Confucian Temple was announced by the State Council as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units. This large-scale traditional Confucian sacrifice activity, held for the first time after the repair of the Hunyuan Prefecture Confucian Temple, aims to express respect and tribute to traditional culture through the worship of Confucius and past sages, wise men, and Confucian scholars.
Zhao Yuqing, Deputy Secretary of the County Committee and County Head, delivered a speech on behalf of the Hunyuan County Committee, County Government, and the hospitable people of Hunyuan, extending a warm welcome to all the guests and expressing sincere gratitude to the comrades who participated in organizing this event and to those who have long supported Hunyuan's development. He said that today, we gather here to commemorate the Great Sage and Teacher and to continue the cultural heritage of Mount Heng. This is a practical measure for Hunyuan to strengthen cultural confidence, promote the creative transformation and innovative development of excellent traditional Chinese culture, and fully exert the influence, cohesion, and appeal of Mount Heng culture. It is also a vivid practice of Hunyuan's adherence to the strategy of "raising the cultural ecological banner, building a characteristic leisure city, and taking the path of tourism and health care," promoting the activation and utilization of cultural relics, and ensuring that the achievements of cultural relics protection benefit and serve the people. Zhao Yuqing emphasized that today's event marks the official commencement of the activation and utilization of the Confucian Temple. National studies classes, represented by poetry, calligraphy, rituals, music, and painting, will be held here. The national spirit of "self-improvement and perseverance, and virtue bearing the world" and the character of Mount Heng of "eternal Mount Heng, virtuous Hunyuan" will be inherited and developed among the people of Hunyuan and will surely become a cultural highland that continues the historical and cultural heritage of this thousand-year-old city at the foot of Mount Heng, rekindles the cultural confidence of the people of Mount Heng, and provides a continuous source of spiritual strength for the high-quality development of Hunyuan's future.
“The refined culture is here, silence inside and out, please open the door!” At around 10:30 am, amidst the melodious chanting of the officiating officer, County Committee Secretary Gao Ying crossed the Pan Bridge and gently pushed open the gate of the Hunyuan Prefecture Confucian Temple, marking the official opening of the temple to the public.

Following this, Yang Qiongsheng, Deputy Secretary of the County Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, and Li Yuexin, Director of the County People's Congress, unveiled the newly erected statue of Confucius. All guests moved to the viewing platform. With a solemn performance of the six arts of Confucianism—ritual, music, archery, charioteering, calligraphy, and mathematics—represented by 36 people in a six-rank dance, the Confucian sacrifice ceremony officially began.
Li Qizhong, Chairman of the County Political Consultative Conference, read the congratulatory message.
Three principals from the county's primary, middle, and high schools respectively performed the offering of silk, the presentation of offerings, and the offering of libations according to traditional rituals. With the beating of drums and the sounding of gongs, ancient music began, and the three offerings ceremony concluded.

Guests presented flower baskets.
In the Four Bows of Respecting Sages, the core content of the event, the attending leaders and guests followed the officiating officer's chanting: "First bow, to establish a heart for the world; Second bow, to establish a life for the people; Third bow, to continue the learning of the past sages; Fourth bow, to bring peace to all generations." The essence of excellent traditional culture deeply moved and inspired the hearts of those present.
The event reached its climax. Amidst the melodious sounds of drums and music, County Committee Secretary Gao Ying once again stepped onto the altar and led the recitation of Professor Wang Defeng's "Declaration of Integrity" from Fudan University. "Honesty leads to a righteous heart, a righteous heart leads to self-cultivation, self-cultivation leads to family harmony, family harmony leads to good governance, good governance leads to peace in the world… In our world, everything starts with honesty, and the pursuit of life ends with ultimate goodness…" A scene of elegant Confucian reading filled the air.

With the touching recitation of "The Great Harmony" from the "Book of Rites" by 72 children representing the future of Hunyuan, the event concluded successfully.
The Beijing Confucius Temple and Guozijian Museum, the China Confucius Temple Protection Association, Qufu Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics, and Qufu San Kong Cultural Tourism Service Co., Ltd. sent congratulatory messages, expressing their willingness to strengthen cooperation with the Hunyuan Prefecture Confucian Temple and congratulating the successful completion of the activation ceremony and Confucian sacrifice ceremony of the Hunyuan Prefecture Confucian Temple.
