On March 19, Zhao Yuqing, Secretary of the County Party Committee, conducted an in-depth inspection of the Hengshan Mountain and Xuan Kong Temple scenic areas to Hengshan Mountain Scenic Area Conduct special research on key projects for 5A creation to further clarify the priorities and direction of work, thereby laying a solid foundation and providing clear guidance for the comprehensive upgrade of the scenic area and its 5A certification. Cao, Director of the Hengshan Mountain Scenic Area Management Center Qilong Qiao Pu, a member of the Standing Committee of the County Party Committee and Director of the County Party Committee Office, along with Fu Yuanjin, Deputy County Magistrate, conducted a joint field investigation.
At the Yuemen Bay Boardwalk and the former cable car station at Hengzong Parking Lot, Zhao Yuqing and his delegation conducted on-site inspections of the boardwalk construction and the surrounding environment. They listened carefully to briefings from relevant officials on project planning, including the ticket-checking gates, signage installation, design of the pedestrian bridge in the Hengshan Scenic Area, plans for addressing hazardous rocks, and the layout of the Hengzong Visitor Service Center. They also offered opinions and suggestions on such aspects as convenient access to and from the boardwalk, signage placement, road lighting and beautification, pedestrian bridge construction, hazardous rock remediation, and the development of the Hengzong Visitor Service Center. He emphasized that the creation of a 5A-level scenic area should serve as the guiding principle, with a focus on serving tourists; that there should be deeper integration between Northern Yue culture and modern technology; that connections and interactions among scenic spots should be strengthened; and that high-quality tourism projects should better serve every visitor. He further stressed the need to prioritize ecological conservation—developing while protecting and protecting while developing—while adopting forward-looking thinking, holistic planning, and comprehensive implementation. Supporting facilities such as boardwalks, viewing platforms, leisure areas, and public restrooms should be designed in accordance with the natural contours of the mountains, further optimizing the spatial functional layout.
At the Hanging Temple, Zhao Yuqing and his delegation conducted an on-site inspection of the planned route for the pedestrian promenade, listened to a briefing by the design firm on the planning and design proposal for the Night-Time Market project, and coordinated on-site solutions to the issues and challenges encountered during project implementation. Zhao Yuqing emphasized that the Night-Time Market project is a new hallmark for Hunyuan’s integrated cultural and tourism development and a crucial initiative to enrich the cultural and tourism experiences of visitors and local residents. All relevant departments must elevate their political awareness, fully recognize the importance of the project, closely monitor key milestones, accelerate progress, and ensure its smooth commencement. It is essential to strengthen inter-departmental coordination and collaboration, proactively provide front-line services, and make every effort to secure critical resources such as electricity. Furthermore, the project should feature carefully curated signature performances, deepen its thematic content, enhance interactive experiences, and strive to establish the Night-Time Market as a high-profile cultural and tourism attraction and a new consumption hotspot, thereby serving as a new engine for driving Hunyuan’s high-quality economic and social development.
During the field study, Zhao Yuqing emphasized that developing Hengshan Mountain into a national 5A-level tourist attraction is a strategic choice for promoting the deep integration of ecological conservation and cultural and tourism economies, as well as for facilitating the green transformation of county-level economies. The goal should be to create a national 5A-level tourist attraction, wage a tough battle to achieve this designation for the Hengshan Mountain scenic area, adhere to high-end development of key sites, boutique connectivity between attractions, and integrated planning, and comprehensively enhance the landscape, business formats, facilities, and environment. In this way, Hengshan Mountain will be developed into a national 5A-level tourist attraction characterized by picturesque mountains and waters, a beautiful environment, complete functionality, seamless integration of culture and tourism, and rich cultural connotations, thereby making due contributions to building “five hearts and five destinations.” (Zhang Ji)
