Building Defense Through Training, Ensuring Safety | The Tianfengling Management Office of the Hengshan Mountain Scenic Area Conducts an Emergency Drill for Earthquake Disasters

Safety is the bottom line for scenic area operations and the cornerstone of safeguarding tourists’ travel. To solidly advance safety construction for disaster prevention and mitigation in scenic areas, further improve the emergency rescue system for earthquake disasters, hone the emergency response teams for sudden incidents, comprehensively strengthen the practical capabilities of staff in disaster prevention, risk avoidance, and emergency rescue, and effectively protect the lives and property of tourists and on-duty employees, on April 25, 2026, the Tianfengling Management Office of the Hengshan Mountain Scenic Area organized a special joint emergency drill for earthquake disasters.

This drill was centrally coordinated and supervised throughout by Li Lei, Director of the Tianfengling Management Office, with the participation of staff from various positions, including on-duty employees, security personnel, on-site medical staff, and sanitation workers. Given the complex terrain, high visitor flow, long and narrow hiking trails, and concentrated crowds at the summit viewing area in the Hengshan Tianfengling Mountain Scenic Area, this drill covered key high-traffic areas such as the viewing platform, hiking trails, and the summit of Hengshan Mountain, accurately reflecting real-world safety risk scenarios in mountainous scenic areas.

The entire drill simulated a real-life earthquake emergency, with live-action exercises conducted in strict accordance with standardized emergency response procedures. The focus was on core operational tasks, including the emergency evacuation of personnel, on-site triage and assessment of injuries, emergency medical treatment of the wounded, transportation and escort of injured individuals, and control of on-site order. Throughout the drill, staff at all posts responded swiftly, performed their respective duties, maintained close coordination, and collaborated efficiently, systematically completing the full spectrum of emergency response activities—ranging from early warning activation and visitor guidance to emergency sheltering, medical rescue, and on-site stability maintenance. The entire response process was conducted in a standardized, efficient, and well-organized manner, successfully fulfilling all pre-determined objectives of the exercise.

Practice in peacetime, prevention in daily life, and protection at all times. This earthquake emergency drill was grounded in the practical realities of safe operations within the scenic area, rigorously testing the scientific soundness, feasibility, and operational effectiveness of the area’s earthquake disaster response plan. It comprehensively honed the staff’s integrated capabilities in emergency evacuation, rapid response, coordinated operations, and emergency rescue, thereby effectively addressing critical gaps in emergency management of geological hazards in mountainous scenic areas.
Next, the Tianfengling Administration of the Hengshan Mountain Scenic Area will conduct various disaster prevention and mitigation drills and emergency response exercises for work safety on a regular basis, continuously improve the scenic area’s emergency response system, strengthen the safety production defense line of the scenic area, and safeguard the travel safety of tourists in all aspects with rigorous and meticulous safety management and solid emergency response capabilities, thereby ensuring the high-quality, stable, safe, and orderly operation of the scenic area.
