China Tourism Day · CPPCC Lecture Series | Xu Xiake’s “Record of a Journey to Hengshan Mountain”: Cultural and Tourism Promotion on Campus


5 month 19 Day, is the nth 16 one On “China Tourism Day,” the County CPPCC Members’ Lecture Series visited Xinyuan Primary School, disseminating cultural knowledge and fostering a sense of patriotism, thereby enriching young people’s spiritual lives and inspiring students to develop a deeper understanding of and affection for their hometown’s culture and tourism resources.

The lecture hall has specially invited Jin Jiyu, a member of the Datong Writers’ Association and a senior teacher, to deliver a talk titled “Xu Xiake’s Travel Notes: Hengshan Mountain,” offering Xinyuan Primary School teachers and students an in-depth exploration of the cultural significance behind Xu Xiake’s journey through Hengshan Mountain, and revisiting the remarkable travel footsteps of this historical figure. During the lecture, Teacher Jin Jiyu began with the timeless masterpiece “Diary of a Journey to Hengshan Mountain,” gently unfolding and slowly unrolling four centuries of history, guiding students to trace back to Xu Xiake, the celebrated traveler of the Ming Dynasty, and his visit to Hunyuan. In doing so, he brought long-forgotten texts to life and made distant history feel within reach. During the on-site Q&A and quick-response segment, there were… 10 Each student who answered correctly received a copy of the “Xu Xiake’s Travel Diaries” calendar.

Li Jinping pointed out that the “CPPCC Members’ Lecture Series” is an important initiative by the county CPPCC to leverage its talent and intellectual strengths and promote the integration of social education with school education. It plays a positive role in promoting the fine culture of Hunyuan and Hengshan Mountain, building social consensus, and showcasing the dedication and performance of CPPCC members. He expressed hope that, using the “Lecture Series” as a bridge, seeds of ideals and convictions could be sown, helping students strengthen their “Four Confidences,” cultivate a deep sense of national identity, and enabling them, through interactive engagement, to reflect on the relationship between personal growth and national development, thus fastening the first button of their lives.

This event was hosted by the County CPPCC, the Hengshan Mountain Scenic Area Management Center, and the County Education Bureau, and organized by the Cultural Sector Members’ Studio of the County CPPCC and the Science and Education Sector Members’ Studio of the County CPPCC.
